Note: This post was originally published in March of 2023. Sadly the Halcyon is set for its final voyage September 28, 2023. Although there is no official word on what the future of this amazing starship may be we will be sure to share an update as soon as any news is available.

Welcome Aboard the Galactic Starcruiser: AKA the Star Wars Hotel! Ever dreamed of becoming a Jedi or climbing the ranks of the first order? Of Stepping into an adventure in a galaxy far far away? Welcome aboard the Halcyon, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, commonly referred to as the Star Wars hotel. And while the Star Wars part is right, the hotel reference could not be further from the truth. This is so much more than a place to sleep and dine. Onboard the Halcyon, you will embark on an epic adventure like no other during a 2-night immersive “cruise” experience where you will “sail” through the galaxy on a luxury starship.

Guests step onboard and set “sail” on the Halcyon Starcruiser. This is your very own Disney Star Wars story, where you will meet new and familiar characters along the way. And while those characters play an amazing role, the true star of the show is you. Will you become the hero you were always meant to be, or will you be unable to resist the power of the dark side? Much like a choose-your-own-adventure novel, your choices, interactions, and decisions will determine your path.
Where to Find the Walt Disney Star Wars Hotel
Your sailing will depart from “port” in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. As with any starcruiser experience, you will want to arrive on time so you board before your sailing departs. When you reach the starcruiser terminal, guests will be greeted and checked in by employees of Chandrilla Star Lines, who will assist with your luggage and escort you to your launch pod, which will take you to the Halcyon. Guest will be able to board between 1 P.M. and P.M.. We suggest arriving around 1 P.M. to give you plenty of time to explore the starcruiser on your PM arrival day.
PRO TIP: Book a pre-departure stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel so you can wake up and head straight to your adventure. Complimentary transportation will be provided from your resort.

All of the Disney Galactic Starcruiser’s cabins feature the amenities you need to have a comfortable off world voyage, including a mini refrigerator, hair dryer, safe, interactive TV, and H20 spa bath and shower products.
Step Inside the Standard Cabin
A variety of starcruiser cabins are available to meet your travel party’s needs. The Standard Cabins sleep between four and five guests and are designed to make sure you have a comfortable adventure. Cabins include a pullout table and a TV with entertainment from your home planet—and a window with a view out into space. A queen bed and bunks are perfect for families, and some cabins feature a fifth sleeper.
Unwind in the Galaxy Class Suite
Looking for a bit more space to spread out the younglings and travel in style? Upgrade your stay to one of the two unique suite options onboard the Galactic Starcruiser. The One-bedroom Galaxy Class Suites sleep four guests and feature a living space complete with an integrated seating area and have all the comforts of Standard Cabins plus a double vanity bathroom, bar area, two windows with views out into space, and a few extra Star Wars surprises.
Upgrade to the Grand Captain Suite
The Two-bedroom Grand Captain’s Suites sleeps up to eight guests and offers ample room for the whole galactic crew. This suite features a living space complete with an integrated seating area. They have all the comforts of Standard Cabins plus a main suite with a double vanity bathroom, a second bathroom with a single vanity, a bar area, and three windows with views out onto the galaxy, space, and a few extra Star Wars surprises.
Onboard Experience
Once onboard, you will be setting sail on your galactic adventure. You will find that many of your fellow passengers have dressed for the occasion, donning looks inspired by their planets of origin and having stories to share about the same.
Immerse Yourself in the Star Wars Galaxy
As your journey begins aboard the Starcruiser Hotel, you will meet and interact with members of the crew, your fellow guest, and perhaps some surprise visitors. The Starcruiser Atrium will be home to many of these opportunities to get acquainted on your first evening and remains the heart of the ship for much of the journey. The characters and crew you meet on your first day of the voyage will take you on an adventure like no other on day two. You will want to be sure to explore the ship, as this will be the stage for much of your adventure. You have become a part of the most unique and immersive Star Wars story ever created. As all the guests have their own roles in this story, no two voyages are identical. This is YOUR Star Wars story.
Interactive Activities and Environments Aboard the Star Wars Hotel
While much of the immersion involves in-person interactions, you will also want to pay special attention to your Star Wars: Datapad (mobile device) which is available on your mobile device as part of the Play Disney Parks app. Here you will find check your personalized itinerary of events and activities. Each guest will require their own smartphone or tablet to view their itineraries as every guest’s journey will be different. Your data pad will also be where you will receive communications from the crew and others characters you may meet. You will receive new message tasks and even secret missions as you make choices throughout the voyage.
Discover the Experiences and Areas on the Galactic Starcruiser
During your voyage, you will find yourself immersed in one-of-a-kind Star Wars experiences. On every voyage, you will have the opportunity to partake in two unique experiences. Guest seven and over can join in lightsaber training, learning to embrace the force and facing off against a remote training device during lessons, unlike anything you’ve experienced before. The whole family will have an opportunity to learn how to man a starship, exploring the bridge of the Halcyon Starcruiser, and learning how the navigation, power and defense systems work. You never know, the skills you learn here may become crucial later in your journey.
Excursion to Batuu
No voyage aboard the Galactic Starcruiser is complete without a visit to Batuu in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. On day two of your voyage, guests will board a transport from the Halcyon for a trip down to Black Spire Outpost on Batuu. Here your adventure will continue with missions throughout Galaxy’s Edge as you search for clues. Your missions will include one-time lightning lane access to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. These missions will affect your story once you are back onboard the ship. (Note: voyage day two admission to Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney Hollywood Studios theme park is included with your voyage).
Enjoy Dinner at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room
When it’s time for an intergalactic bite, you are all set! Meals are included during your voyage on the Halcyon. The Main dining room, the glamorous Crown of Corellia dining room, offers buffet style breakfast and lunch options from all over the galaxy—along with familiar favorites from your home planet. For dinner, on night one, the Crown of Corellia transforms into a energetic supper club. You’ll enjoy a special evening with incredible dining and one-of-a-kind entertainment as you socialize with your fellow passengers.
Upgrade to The Captain’s Table for a Unique Experience
Dinner on night two features a multicourse meal with dining courses from around the galaxy. You will not want to miss the blue shrimp! Looking for an even more special experience, you can upgrade your voyage to enjoy dinner at the captain’s table one evening of your journey. This experience features extra courses—the captain’s favorite dishes—while seated in a prime location in the center of the Crown of Corellia Dining Room.
Snacktime on a Starcruiser
If you are looking for a snack, an exotic beverage, or a good game of Sabacc, the Sublight Lounge is the perfect spot on the Starcruiser. Guests will find a variety of feature cocktails and mocktails from across the cosmos to enjoy (beverages are an additional charge). Even better, the Sublight lounge has various yummy snack options included in your voyage fare to keep you nourished while you mingle with other guests.
Preparing for Your Star Wars Adventure: What to Pack
When packing for your voyage, you will need the same staples that you take when vacationing on your home planet. In addition, you’re invited to dress up as part of the Star Wars galaxy and wear your galactic favorites during your Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser adventure. If you wish to participate, you can show off your look during the Outer Rim Regalia exhibition. While people dressing up is not required, it does add to the overall experience and can tell other characters and guests a bit about your journey. Is the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Right for Me?
Now I am sure you are wondering, “Is the Galactic Starcruiser at Disney World right for me?” “What if I am not a huge Star Wars fan?” “Why isn’t the experience about Luke and Vadar?” “Is it worth the investment?” “Is this a voyage only for families?”. I had my doubt about what to expect before my first voyage. I had all these questions as well. I was completely unprepared for how amazing and unique this adventure would really be.
This hotel experience works well for families, groups of friends, and special celebrations like anniversaries, and bachelor or bachelorette parties. As someone who didn’t think she would be as engaged as the more dedicated Star Wars fan, I became completely invested in the adventure and had one of the most amazing vacation experiences of my life.
If you enjoy mysteries, choose your own adventure games or escape rooms, you will be delighted with the experience even if you know nothing about Star Wars. The experience is even richer for the Star Wars fan at heart. I left this voyage wondering only one thing: when am I going back?
